Low thermal expansion coefficient
Heat shock resistant cordierite ceramics with low thermal expansion require talcs with high purity. The chemical composition of Finntalcs is tightly controlled by flotation, which makes them a valuable raw material for cordierite.

High porosity
For honeycomb catalysts, cordierite with high porosity and water absorption is required. Best results are achieved with platy talcs.

Reduced wall-thickness
For thin walled catalysts, platy talcs give better mechanical strength to the green body. Mondo Minerals has developed platy double classified talcs for this application.
