Hydrophobic talc prevents agglomeration of NPK fertilizers. Best results are achieved with platy talcs, which give the most efficient anticaking effect under load over time.
Metal casting
Mould surfaces with talc coating improve the quality and appearance of cast metal parts. Pure, inert talcs are required.
Bituminous roofing sheets and asphalt shingles
talc acts as a lubricant in the production process, and reduces sticking problems in storage.
For most of these applications, in most EU countries a GMP quality system with HACCP is required. Mondo Minerals is one of the few suppliers who manufacture talc grades according to this standard.
"GMP":
'cGMPs' or 'current Good Manufacturing Practices'. GMP is a term that is recognized worldwide for the control and management of manufacturing and quality control testing of pharmaceutical products. The term is also used for food and feed production; for feed production and deliveries it is mandatory.
"HACCP":
'Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points' (HACCP) is a systematic preventative approach to food safety that addresses physical, chemical and biological hazards as a means of prevention rather than finished product inspection.
