Within our Life Science department we have joined the Dutch Cosmetics Association which helps us follow all the regulations and changes in the European union for all Cosmetics and Personal care matters.
We are certified according to ISO 9001, ISO 14000, FSSC 22000 and to the OHSAS 18000, as well as Kosher and Halal requirements.
We continue to progress along a journey to raise awareness and educate our people and suppliers about the Code of Conduct.

Energy efficiency is one of the main targets of our operations.
Productivity increase by speeding up the production in energy intensive processes like Flotation and Jet Milling also contribute to unit energy consumption and therefore efficiency. We have put a lot of effort in continuous improvement activities on those areas and have seen good results during last couple of years.
We have signed the National Contract on Energy Efficiency together with several other companies in Finland in 2008. Target was set to decrease the total energy consumption by almost 30%. Deeds were both on electricity savings and oil/gas savings. Targets have already been met due to previous activities!
We do everything we can to maintain a good ecobalance. From waste seperation to recycling to reducing our water emissions. We are involved in many theoretical and practical researches and projects to find new possibilities to use our flotation by-product magnesite sand.
We tested magnesite to replace virgin rocks in road building applications. This leads to less virgin rock usage in various applications in the future, which is a big sustainability effort.
We are filling and “naturalizing” all the areas where we have closed mining activities, together with the environmental authorities. Land Fillings, planting trees and more. We follow up how well the new forest is proceeding.
We take part in the Finnish Natural Resources-centres’ project to utilize compost made at local municipal waste treatment plants. Compost is planned to be used to grow bio-mass on the fields on top of our rehabilitated areas and bio-mass is planned to be used at local bio-gas/ bio-fuel plants. This is one of the latest projects we are taking part to create a sustainable future.
We also take part in the Responsible Care Program in Finland.
